Illustration by POB of 1926 Sunbeam Tiger |
Hi Catherine,
I'm still here - trying to make it perfect. Very sorry it's taking me so long.
Cheers,
Bill

Hello Bill
Happy New Year. I hope all is
well with you. Not having had a response to my previous email, I'm concerned
that something might have happened that makes you uncontactable. It would be
good to know that this is not the case!
Did you ever use Patrick
O'Brien's illustration of the Sunbeam Tiger on the cover of your pamphlet? We'd
be grateful to receive a copy or even just a photo of the cover (which would
hopefully be easy to email). If you're able to mail a pamphlet, the address to
use is:
[...]
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Kind regards
Catherine

are things going with the the Sunbeam Tiger pamphlet? It would be great to see
the pamphlet with POB's artwork on the cover. POB was always passionate about
reading up on the histories of cars!

for several reasons I think it’s perfect for the cover – now I need to figure
out what else…

mail you the pamphlet when it’s done which is probably a couple of months
away. Can’t wait!

email and for requesting permission. Sadly Patrick passed away in 2017; I'm his
daughter. Was it on his blog that you saw his drawing of the 1926 Sunbeam
Tiger? His drawing is actually labelled "1925 Sunbeam Tiger 4.0L
V12", although his blog caption says 1926. I've attached a better
resolution image.

Hello Patrick,
>>
>>
First, I want to let you know that your car drawings are fabulous!
Detail, scale, mood - all are tops!
>>
>>
>> The
one that couldn’t help but catch my eye is your 1926 Sunbeam Tiger and I am
writing to request your permission to include it in a pamphlet on the history
of the Sunbeam Tiger.
>>
>>
There are not many cars like my Tiger in the area where I live (Florida,
U.S.) and when I take it to car shows people frequently ask: What is a Sunbeam
Tiger? This question is what’s led me to the pamphlet and now, to you.
>>
>>
>> The
pamphlet is titled: “The Sunbeam Tiger: A few history highlights.” At
this point I’m in search of an idea, probably art, for the cover page.
>>
>>
>>
Early among the highlights is the 1926 Sunbeam Ladybird/Tiger. This is
followed by highlights of the 1953 and 1962 Alpines, and the 1964-1967
Tigers. Would you have any drawings of these? Racing is the primary theme
running through the pamphlet backed up by global events and the entertainment
world. The content is non-technical.
>>
>>
>> The
pamphlet will be available for free to people attending car shows and events,
or upon request. It will be in print form only and include approximately 6,000
words and 30 to 35 images.
>>
>>
>> I
want to be sure your drawing is available for me to use and that I give the
appropriate credit. If you could provide an example of how best to do
this, that would be great!
>>
>>
Thank you for considering my request and for your time! I would
welcome your thoughts on any of this.
>>
>>
Sincerely,
>>
